About the Event
In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, please join ArtCenter Library on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00 PM PT for a one-hour virtual talk with award-winning illustrators — and former library student workers — Sally Deng and AJ Dungo. AJ Dungo is an illustrator and author living in Long Beach, California. He attended ArtCenter College of Design. He has worked with Nike, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Bleacher Report, Doubleday & Cartwright, This American Life, The Wall Street Journal, ProPublica, and Virgin Orbit. His work has been recognized by American Illustration, Society of Illustrators, and AD&D. He published his award-winning graphic novel In Waves with Nobrow and is currently working on a new YA graphic novel for Chronicle books. Sally Deng creates art for magazines, newspapers, books, and more in her Los Angeles studio. She was selected by Forbes 30 Under 30 for the 2020 Art & Style list and was named a Young Guns 16 winner by The One Club of Creativity. Her art has been recognized by American Illustration, 3x3, Society of Illustrators and the ADC. She is the author-illustrator of Skyward: Women Pilots in WWII (Flying Eye Books, 2018) and of the forthcoming Warrior Princess: The Story of Khutulun (FSG, 2022).
