Safe Zones at ArtCenter College of Design

A Safe Zone is a network of allies - faculty and staff - who are supportive of lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer identifying students.

Every campus ally attends a training seminar to learn about the responsibilities of being an ally. Allies will display a "Safe Zone" logo in/by their workspace or sometimes on their email signature identifying them as individuals willing to provide a safe haven, a listening ear and reliable support to any student.

SAFE ZONE WORKSHOPS

Beyond supporting students and asking members to engage in brave, difficult conversations while working towards inclusion, these workshops send a stronger message of an action-oriented mission for the participants. Some of our workshop topics include; curriculum design, programming, non-binary personas, and beyond gender stereotypical storytelling.
